The Summer 2026 edition of the League of Women Voters of Nebraska’s quarterly newsletter, the Nebraska Voter, is now available. It includes stories on:

• Events sponsored by the LWVNE across the state as part of the national LWV’s Unite & Rise 8.5 campaign’s recognition of the anniversary of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 and encouraging civic participation. Events include voter registration in South Sioux City and a Youth Civic Collective event for Omaha-area high school students in Omaha, both on Aug. 8.
• Lunch & Learn programs sponsored by the LWVLL and presented via Zoon on Aug. 6, “Where Does the Money Come From” by Gavin Geis, executive director of Common Cause Nebraska; Sept. 2, Nov. 3 ballot initiatives by Rachel Gibson, action vice president of the LWVNE, and Jean McGuire, president of LWVLL; and Oct. 7, election integrity by Todd Wiltgen, Lancaster County Election Commissioner.
• Kick-off meeting of the LWVNE’s new study group on Artificial Intelligence and data centers via Zoom at 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 13.
• Candidate forums hosted by the LWVLL on Sept. 22, contested state legislative races in districts that serve Lancaster County, and Sept. 23, select contested Lancaster County offices for sheriff, county attorney and District 3 Lancaster County commissioner.
• Volunteers being sought by the state LWVNE to serve as co-director of Voter Services, director of Health Policy and co-president.
• The LWVNE’s recently adopted statewide position on elder care after more than a year of research, expert interviews and member discussion across Nebraska.
• Minutes of the May 30 annual meeting of the LWVNE.
• Information on the upcoming Nov. 3 general election including how to request an early voting ballot, registering online to vote and other pertinent deadlines.
