National LWV President Dianna Wynn recently spoke to the current state of the League of Women Voters heading into the 2026 election season.

“We are facing historic challenges, attacks on voting rights, attempts to subvert fundamental checks and balances of our government, efforts to silence ciivic participation and an astonishing disregard for the rule of law,” she said. “It’s reminded us that democracy is not self executing, it doesn’t automatically renew. Democracy is something we fight for every day. Every challenge we face underscores why our work matters. Because when democratic norms are shaken, the League stands firm.”
