The 109th Legislature’s Second Session wrapped up in April.

It was a busy session with 529 new pieces of legislation introduced. Of those, 322 never left committee and 137 ultimately became law.

The biggest story of the session was the budget, which saw an unusually large amount of time for a “short” or “second” legislative session. That is, more time is usually spent on budget matters in the 90-day “long” or “first” session of the Nebraska Legislature, which occurs in odd-numbered years.

You can see information about your specific state senator, what bills and studies they introduced, and how they voted on four high-profile veto override votes in addition to a summary of the legislative advocacy work of the LWVNE Action Teams on our Legislative 2026 Advocacy Summary page.
