Beginning in 2025, the Nebraska Voter is transitioning from a PDF linked to an email through the MailChimp platform to an online newsletter template with a goal of increasing accessibility and engagement with subscribers.
Also beginning this year, the Nebraska Voter will be published bimonthly – six times a year – instead of quarterly.
You can still view the Nebraska Voter as a PDF saved on the LWVNE website. View the January 2025 issue as a PDF – which includes updated stories on the Jan. 18 board meeting and fundraising report since the Jan. 22 MailChimp was sent – here and use the links to read each story.
The January 2025 issue includes:
- Upcoming events – Sunday Sessions on the 2025 Session, registration for the Feb. 13 Legislative Day, broadcast of “The Strike” documentary, the Feb. 6 Lunch and Learn program on the League’s legislative advocacy, and a calendar of LWVNE meetings and events.
- News stories on the launch of the ChapterSpot membership portal, actions taken at the Jan. 18 board meeting, nominations for LWVNE officers and directors to serve in 2025-2027, the Elder Care Study Group, 2024 fundraising results, the Lincoln fair housing campaign and participation in VOTE411 in 2024.
- Feature story on Marilyn Bechtel, membership vice president for the LWVNE and secretary for the Seward County LWV.
- Officer and director reports – Co-presidents Janelle Stevenson and Claudia Stevenson write about LWVNE’s nonpartisan principles and issue-based advocacy; Rachel Gibson, action vice president, reports on the opening days of the Nebraska Legislature’s 109th (90-day) session; and Terri Rittenburg, treasurer, reports on the LWVNE’s financial status.
- Local League reports – each highlighting activities in 2024 – by presidents Jan McKenzie, LWV of Greater Omaha, and Lori Shriner, Seward County LWV.
- LWVNE in the News – Two letters to the editor – opposing efforts to return Nebraska’s Electoral College votes to winner take all and thanking poll workers – were published in state daily newspapers.
