As 2025 begins, so does a new Nebraska legislative session and the League of Women Voters of Nebraska will be following every step.
“Whether you’ve been a League member for decades or newly joined, now is the perfect time for you to join our advocacy,” said Rachel M. Gibson, LWVNE action vice president. “No matter what your interest, knowledge or time availability, there is a place for you following or taking action on the latest bills being proposed and passed in the Nebraska Legislature.”

These are simply emails when something pressing is happening in the Legislature with more information about the topic and some ways to take action. There is absolutely no obligation. Filling out the form from the link just puts you on the list to get the emails so you can choose how and when you are involved.
Join here for one of our six Action Teams if you’re looking for a way to get more hands-on involvement with the policy-making process. These are topic-specific groups that review and follow specific legislation throughout the session. Team members research policy, write position statements, testify at hearings and help mobilize people as legislation moves forward. We have six different policy areas: Disability and Behavioral Health, Education Policy, Government and Voter Services, Health Policy, Natural Resources and Energy, and Social Policy.
Register here for the annual LWVNE Legislative Day at the State Capitol on Thursday, Feb. 13, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. As in previous years, participants will spend the morning meeting with state senators to advocate for some of the LWVNE’s priority bills followed by conversations with fellow League members over lunch. Participants who can stay after lunch will wrap up the day by sitting in on a committee hearing in the afternoon. Everyone who registers for Legislative Day will receive a link to attend an optional virtual training session on Saturday, Feb. 8, from 9-10:30 a.m.
