The League of Women Voters of Nebraska has released its 2025 statewide volunteer impact summary, highlighting the extensive work carried out by League members across the state to strengthen civic engagement, voter education and democratic participation.

According to the statewide report, League members hosted 311 civic activities during 2025; registered 1,369 voters; and made more than 13,000 “Get Out the Vote” contacts, including through its online voter information platform, VOTE 411, prior to the municipal elections held in the state’s two largest cities, Omaha and Lincoln. The organization reported 11,000 volunteer hours contributed by 194 volunteers statewide, representing an estimated $349,000 in volunteer service to Nebraska communities.

Volunteers also organized programs to educate citizens about issues facing their communities and the state to ensure that Nebraskans had access to nonpartisan information about public policy. Civic education programs were offered by the four local Leagues in Greater Omaha, Lincoln-Lancaster County, Hastings and Seward County. In addition, the LWVNE sponsored its annual Legislative Day and organized its first The People’s Day at the State Capitol during the 109th Legislature (first session) as forums for education and advocacy. League members also engaged directly with policymakers by writing and speaking to state senators and legislative committees regarding bills introduced during the 2025 legislative session.

Claudia Stevenson, president of the League of Women Voters of Nebraska, praised the dedication of volunteers across the state.

“The work represented here is of the highest quality. Members across the state not only volunteered their time to register people to vote, but also educated Nebraskans on local, state and national policy issues. I am so proud of their work,” she said.

“In 2026, the LWVNE will broaden its outreach efforts as the primary and general election cycles approach with plans to increase voter registration efforts, expand civic education programming and strengthen partnerships with community organizations across Nebraska,” Stevenson said.

The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan organization committed to empowering voters and defending democracy. Through education, advocacy and community engagement, the League works to ensure that every eligible voter has the information and opportunity needed to participate in the democratic process.
