League Supports Redistricting Bill at Hearing

The League of Women Voters of Nebraska urged members of the Legislature’s Government, Military and Veterans Affairs Committee to conduct and complete the redistricting process in a nonpartisan, transparent fashion.
While the LWVNE believes that responsibility for redistricting should be vested with an independent commission, Government Director Sheri St. Clair spoke in favor of LB 107. The bill maintains legislative control of the redistricting process, but provides a framework that, in conjunction with the Rules of the Legislature, are drawn by a bipartisan committee.
