LWVNE members visited the childhood home of LWV founder Carrie Chapman Catt on February 13, 2020. On February 14, the 100th anniversary of the founding of the LWV, the group attended the kickoff of Iowa’s 19th Amendment centennial celebration at Iowa State University.
Each year, the LWVNE has two major events, a Legislative Day in Lincoln in February and an Annual Meeting in April. Legislative Day consists of a morning strategy session on priority bills, individual visits to senators’ offices to discuss priority bills, introduction of the League group in the chambers and a luncheon with a guest speaker. The Annual Meeting rotates between Hastings, Lincoln, Omaha and Seward.
The LWVNE also sponsors special events, such as the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the League and 19th Amendment in 2020. Many other events take place though the local Leagues. Check the calendar or the local League websites and/or Facebook pages.

Saturday, August 22, from 9:45 a.m. (check in until 10 a.m.) to 1 p.m.
The LWVNE’s Annual Meeting in Seward, NE, was supposed to be a joyous celebration of the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment and the founding of the League of Women Voters. Unfortunately, due to the coronavirus, we will not be able to meet in Seward. But, we will meet online via Zoom. We have an exciting program planned and need your input as we get ready for a transformational election in November. There is no charge to participate in the virtual Annual Meeting. However, donations to help our cause are always appreciated. We hope you will join us on August 22, 2020, from 9:45 a.m. (check in until 10 a.m.) to 1 p.m.
* The LWVNE was founded in 1920. Previously, the state League alternated between Convention and Council years like the national League. In 2014, they changed to an Annual Meetings.
