Democracy starts 2023 on steadier footing with the passage of the Electoral Count Reform and Presidential Transition Improvement Act. 

The act passed as part of the recently signed government funding bill.

League of Women Voters of the United States’s CEO Virginia Kase Solomón stated,

“The Electoral Count Reform Act will strengthen our democracy by providing clear and updated guidelines for certifying and counting the American people’s votes for president and vice president. This necessary legislation is one step toward ensuring our country never experiences another January 6.”
